"The Shine Comes Later"

Corey Pellerin • August 7, 2026

People pay for the shine. They don't see the grind.

Nobody watching a finished floor sees the hours before it — the scratches ground out, the passes nobody clapped for, the mess before it looked like anything.

Same with you right now. Nobody's watching the part where you're figuring it out. That doesn't mean it's not working. It means you're still in the part that doesn't get applause.

Keep grinding. The shine comes later — but only if you don't quit before it shows up.

What's one thing you were never taught, that you had to figure out the hard way? Could be money. Could be how to talk to a customer. Could be just showing up when you didn't feel like it. Drop it below — no wrong answer, no judgment. I'll go first: nobody taught me how to price a job right for the first 5 years. I gave away more money than I want to admit before I figured it out. Your turn.

The pride that won't let him ask. That's the real problem. Not the money. Not the lack of skills. Pride. I see it every time I look at a young guy who's struggling — he'd rather grind it out alone, broke and lost, than walk up to somebody and say "I don't know what I'm doing, can you help me." I get it. I was raised the same way. You don't ask, you figure it out, you handle your business. But here's the truth — 23 years in this trade taught me something nobody tells you when you're young: asking for help isn't weakness. It's the first sign you're ready to actually build something. I will never ask you to do something I have not done myself. I've been on my knees on a cold floor at 22 years old with no direction, no mentor, and a whole lot of pride standing in my way. The day I let somebody show me the trade was the day everything changed. If you're a young man who's tired of pushing through it alone — Text me at 407-299-7971 or send me an email to mainstreetcleaning@yahoo.com. No judgment. Trust is a must, and that starts with you trusting me enough to ask. Belief starts with the first step, make the call today.
